Project Description

A retreat carved into the terrain.

Set along the banks of the Chandrabhaga River near Rishikesh, Chandrabhaga Villa was conceived as an exercise in carving a large-scale hospitality retreat into a naturally contoured site without overpowering its landscape. The complex terrain, level differences and challenges of retaining the site — particularly around the pool — became opportunities to shape the architecture through experiential movement, stepped connections and carefully framed relationships with the river and valley.

Locally sourced Chandrabhaga stone grounds the project in its context while maintaining a refined, contemporary character. Indoor and outdoor spaces are organised around views, landscape and social interaction — a resort-like private villa where the natural terrain is not merely the setting, but a defining part of the experience.
